If, like us, you sighed heavily when chic garden shop Smith & Hawken closed its doors on Knox Street and wondered what was going to takeover that prime retail spot, your wait will soon be over. Patina Floor Design plans to open its latest showroom this July at 3300 Knox St. with a Southlake location to open soon after. (The first one opened in Fort Worth this month.) Haven’t heard of Patina? Neither had we. The new retail flooring store offers not only top quality ceramic tile, natural stone, wood flooring, carpet, and rugs but also interior design and installation services as well as in-store interactive, electronic displays that help you visualize the installed appearance of your new flooring. Our favorite? The Floor Creator table lets you electronically view your tile selection with different patterns and grout colors. Taking the guesswork out of floor design? We can’t wait to check this place out. Now, if only Smith & Hawken would return. (Another heavy sigh.)
