Dallas-based staffing company AMN has announced that its President and CEO Susan Salka will retire by the end of the year. Salka has been with AMN for 32 years, joining shortly after the company was founded and served as chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and other leadership positions along the way. She became CEO in 2005, when the company generated $706 million in revenue. Today, AMN generates $4 billion in annualized revenue. The firm is engaging in a search for her successor.
Medical City Fort Worth and Medical City Dallas have the shortest kidney transplant wait times in the region for deceased donors, according to the Scientific Registry for Transplant Recipients. Wait time is the largest factor contributing to survival in the procedure.
The 32nd annual list of DFW Great 100 Nurses is now out, recognizing nursing excellence in the region. Texas Health Resources is the system with the most nurses on the list, with 39 recipients. See the full list here.
Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South broke ground on a $75 million patient tower last month. The 116,000 square foot building will include additional emergency room beds and double the size of the current emergency department. New imaging, oncology treatment areas, a new medical intensive care unit, and an open-concept dining area are also part of the expansion.
Cooper Clinic is expanding its optometry services by adding Waziha Samin to its preventive medical services. Dr. Samin specializes in ocular disease and provides eye health exams, retinal imaging, glaucoma and macular degeneration screening.
