Medical City Plano and Frisco Name a New CEO

As of July 22, Carlton Ulmer will be the new CEO for Medical City Plano and Medical City Frisco. Ulmer has been with Medical City’s parent company HCA Healthcare for 18 years, most recently serving as CEO of West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida since 2017.

While leading West Florida Hospital, the facility experienced improved patient experience, increased employee engagement and financial growth. He also helped lead capital expansion projects in the comprehensive stroke, pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, adult intensive care, and emergency services. Under Ulmer’s leadership, Becker’s Healthcare named it a 100 Top Hospital, while Healthgrades gave it the Patient Safety Excellence Award, and the hospital received straight As from Leapfrog Hospital Safe Grade Program.

He will serve as CEO of the two facilities, which include over 550 beds and more than 2,000 employees. Ulmer has worked for HCA in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia, and he was also appointed CEO of Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center in Panama City, Florida in 2012.
