Traffic Apocalypse Headed to Arlington?

Our own Nancy Nichols will be headed out to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for Game 4 of the American League Division Series — if Game 4 is needed. Major League Baseball has yet to determine when that game will be played, but surely they would put some distance between it and the Cowboys game, which is at 3:15, right? Because otherwise Arlington is going to be a mess.

    A similar situation is brewing for Game 3 on Saturday, but at least there’s no direct conflict.

    Game 3 Saturday at Rangers Ballpark will begin at 4:07 p.m. and the Texas A&M-Arkansas football game at Cowboys Stadium kicks off at 2:30 p.m.

  • @Tom: Guess who is going to Game 3? Oy. That football contest ought to be finished by the time the Rangers let out. Still, though, having both stadii in use at the same time isn’t going to make it any easier.

    HEADING to Arlington? Are you kidding? We’ve had a traffic apocalypse here for years.

  • Tom

    @Tim: Parking will be an issue on Saturday. Plan to arrive after the football game kicks off. But you won’t have as many spaces available and prices will be higher.
    Or, just take DART to…, er, never mind.

  • And we’re hosting Christopher Coppola’s digital film fest @ Arlington Museum of Art this weekend.

    My guess is that the Cowboys game would be bumped to noon, and the Rangers would get a night game at around 7, 7:15.

    Rangers vs Rays
    Game 4 (if necessary) 12:07pm CST

    Cowboys vs Titans
    3:15pm CST

    @coliumbiasooner: Shouldn’t that be CDT?

  • Marcus

    The A&M/Arkansas game will not even be at half by first pitch of the Rangers game.

    Now getting to the Rangers game after watching the Tech game in Dallas? That’s my issue this weekend.

  • Joshuash

    @coliumbiasooner, Where do people keep getting the time for Game 4?

    Even the official MLB site doesn’t have it yet:

  • @Joshuash: The game time is right on the Rangers’ site:

    @Tim Rogers:

    I must be blind! All I see is TBD everywhere for Game 4. Mind being a little more specific?

    OK, now it’s been updated. 12:07 it is. We can all rest easy!

  • Touchdown Arlington

    Large events, simultaneous events – doesn’t matter – traffic flows very well around the stadiums while Arlington rings the cash register. Plan ahead and follow the directions that the city and stadiums provide to have a great experience.

  • Just stay off I-30 or 360 and you’ll be fine.

    Texas 180 (Division St) has been flowing well right up to the stadium. Take it all the way from Bishop Arts and forget the GPS–
