A shot-guzzling FBvian weighs in on the positives and negatives of his Trecé experience. (read: the waitress was hot, the tequila was not.)
Positives:
Really great waitress – nice, pleasant, killer smile
Very nicely done food. We both enjoyed our meals very much.
Cool and hip interior – great lighting – great division of ‘areas’ – nice interior architectureNegatives:
Tequila Bar Bartender did not know some basics of tequila – for example which is older Reposado or Anejo? Wow – the tequila bar staff should really know their tequila – that’s the whole value proposition in that kind of offering.
$12 shots for $50/bottle tequila? Really? Gotta believe they are potentially missing a great concept with this entry price. I think they could half that price and get more people to participate.
Overall it was fairly expensive (didn’t have the water though!)
Tequila “on tap” seems like a gimmick that adds no value. I really don’t understand the value of serving the tequila on tap at five degrees. At five degrees, you can’t really taste it since that kind of temperature ‘freezes’ the taste buds a bit. Sure, drink lousy tequila at five degress to get a quick and cheap buzz but good tequila is made to savor and enjoy.
