Let’s just get out front of all this deal, no deal, deal, no deal rumoring coming from Dallas and Fort Worth city halls and assorted politicos and airline interests. Dallas has a mayor running down the wrong end of the boarding ramp right now, and getting credit for brokering a deal between Southwest and American would save getting her getting bumped down to tourist class.
So what you have to ask yourself, as Clint might say, is, “Punk (i.e. the airlines and the council members), do you feel lucky?” Do you think it’s possible that a deal would be touted by the DMN, which heavily backs Miller, even it’s far from settled, just to get the flight tilted back in favor of Her Honor’s political itinerary? Possible that all this is being orchestrated for the benefit of politicians, not airlines, let alone cities or passengers?
Just depends on how lucky you feel about political games in a supercharged setting.
