MORE ON THE WHITE ROCK LAKE SWIMMER

|

Remember yesterday’s item about the gentleman who drove his car into White Rock and swam away from firefighters trying to rescue him? I was just too curious to let the matter rest, so I put intern Katie Buxton on the case. Here’s her report:

You speak of Ahmed Mohammed. Here’s his story. Three late-night fishermen were casting lines from a Garland Road pier around 11:00pm when Mohammed, in his white Toyota Camry, crashed into the water. Then he swam for it, into the middle of the lake. Firefighters attempted to rescue him, even getting as much as an arm into a life vest, but alas, he got away. The police report states he then “screamed incoherently and slipped under the surface of the water.” Apparently Mohammed had been taking the anti-depressants Zyprexa and Alprazalom. I smell a law suit.

Good work, Katie. Also in the police report: Mohammed’s body has yet to be found, he has no relatives living in the United States, and his wife lives in Italy. Yes, Italy.
