You people really know your peacocks. The consensus seems to be that the peacocks live at the nearby horse stables. Here is but one of many peacock-knowing FrontBurnervian’s take on it:

The peacocks are “pets” of the stable. The stable owner raises them to eat/scare the snakes that scare his horses. They also eat the rats and mice that attract the snakes. Mating season is a mess–try explaining it to your 3-year-old.

Odd factoid: The last black bear ever killed in Dallas County was shot in the woods right across the street from where you saw the peacocks back in 1853.

You kidding me? “Nimrod” is the best street name ever. “Where do you live?” “Where do you think? Nimrod.”
