Commissary Pop-Up Now in the New Park District Building

It’s good news for your croissant and coffee fix.

Commissary, the high-end deli that revolutionized downtown’s idea of grab-and-go last year with its headquarters on Main Street, now has a pop-up outpost in the new Park District building on the corner of Klyde Warren Park, across from the Federal Reserve Bank. Ensconced in a corporate break room, the pop-up (staffed by Commissary employees) fills the counter 7-10 a.m. Monday-Friday with an ample line-up of Commissary pastries, plus breakfast tacos and coffee.

For people looking for a flaky, burnished croissant or breakfast tacos (chorizo and egg, pulled pork, and vegetarian) on their way to work; for all those early-morning dog-walkers who fill the dog park, this is good news. A word to the financier- and cheddar-chive scone-seekers: it will not seem a propitious place for your caffeination quest. But it’s there, just inside, past the valet stand and to the left. Just don’t get there late: the pixie dust is gone, and it’s back to corporate-land.
