There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Each week we’ll gather the most important tidbits of Dallas food news and post them here, on SideDish. Because sometimes all you need is the scoop.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille offers 79-cent pork chops: The restaurant is practically giving away pork chops to the first 100 people who stop by on Friday, May 19. Why? In honor of their anniversary. (Perry’s opened in 1979 as a butcher shop.) Both the Downtown and Frisco locations open for lunch at 11 a.m.
Taste Addison kicks off on May 19: The popular food and wine festival runs May 19 through May 21.

Bonus: Vanilla Ice is performing on Friday. True story.

Abacus to host James Beard House-inspired dinner: The team at Abacus took over the iconic James Beard House in Manhattan on May 11 for a sold-out dinner. Executive chef Chris Patrick showcased a variety of Texas game, produce, and more. On Thursday, May 25, Dallasites are invited to experience the same six-course meal with wine pairings. The dinner takes place at 6:30 p.m. and tickets cost $125 and can be purchased by calling 214-520-0151.
