The Scoop: Resident Taqueria Opens, 88-Cent Beer and More Dallas Food News

There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Each week we’ll gather the most important tidbits of Dallas food news and post them here, on SideDish. Because sometimes all you need is the scoop.

Barley & Board launches brunch: Denton brewpub, Barley & Board, is now serving weekend brunch. The menu offers dishes such as blueberry and lemon pancakes, steak and eggs, smoked salmon scramble, and masa corn cakes with chorizo. The restaurant is also pouring $6 mimosas, $8 bloody Marys, and $8 micheladas. Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

44 Farms gets first retail presence: 44 Farms steaks are now available at Cibo Divino Marketplace in Sylvan | Thirty. According to the release: “Prior to its retail launch, 44 Farms steaks were only available at restaurants or via 44Steaks.com. 44 Farms has been strategizing its entrance into retail, and thought Cibo Divino would be a great fit due to its chef and quality-driven mantra.” You can currently order 44 Farms Ppoducts at 30 restaurants including Abacus, Al Biernats, Brain Dead Brewery, Casa Rubia, CBD Provisions, Hibiscus, HG Sply Co., Knife, Oak, and The Porch.

Persona Wood Fired Pizza to open in Dallas: Build-your-own pizza franchise will open three Dallas locations in early 2016. According to the release: “The franchise has signed an area development agreement with Dallas,Texas-based 4Slices LLC. to open the restaurants in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Currently, Persona Pizzeria has 12 locations in development nationwide; besides Dallas, the company is also expanding to Houston, Texas and Columbia, South Carolina.”

Resident Taqueria to open on October 8: The casual taqueria opens in Northeast Dallas tomorrow. The menu offers a selection of tacos (duh!), sides, and desserts. According to their website: “Resident Taqueria was born of culinary mind and bred of down-home heart. The vast and impressive culinary experiences of Chef Andrew Savoie span the finest restaurants in America, from New York to New Orleans to Napa, and land here in the Lake Highlands neighborhood of Dallas. We boast fresh, made-to-order tortillas, slow-braised meats, seasonal and local produce, and a margarita that elevates the concept of happy hour.” Resident Taco is located at 9661 Audelia Rd., Suite 112.

San Salvaje ends dinner service: Stephan Pyles’ downtown Latin America restaurant is now only serving lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. According to the restaurant: “Amongst Stephan Pyles Concepts, San Salvaje has more frequently been sourced for larger corporate buyouts and smaller private evening events, therefore the decision was made to establish it as a private event space in the evenings. It will remain open for lunch service to the public and continues to be a sought after midday, dining destination in downtown and for tenants at 2100 Ross.” The space can accommodate 150 people.

Greenville Avenue Pizza Company offers 88-cent beer for TX-OU game: Yes, you read that correctly. Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. will pour 88-cent glasses of Peticolas’ “Come and Take It” this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. (There is a limit of two per person.)

Malai Kitchen debuts wine flights: The Southeast Asian restaurant in the West Village is now offering wine flights. Each flight is $22 and comes with four 3-ounce pours of red or white wine. According to the restaurant: “The wine flights are thoughtfully curated to pair well with the food and allow guests to try different combinations.”

New concessions available at American Airlines Center for Stars games: AAC is rolling out new food items for Dallas Stars games on Thursday. Executive chef, Mark Mabry, is serving up a macaroni and cheese stuffed baked potato, grilled chicken and brie sandwich, chipotle and brown sugar pork loin, chicken lollipops, a Jenschke Farms grilled panzanella salad, and more.
