Touring Texas music festival JMBLYA is returning to Dallas’ Fair Park on Friday, May 1 with a rap-heavy lineup led by A$AP Rocky, Lil Uzi Vert, and Playboi Carti. The three-day fest kicks off in North Texas before traveling to Austin and Houston.

The eighth edition of the teen-favorite will also include Lil Tecca, Don Toliver, Lil TJay, bbno$, Gwapmizzle, and Dallas’ own up-and-comer Kaash Paige, an 18-year-old rapper who recently signed with Def Jam.

If you’re reading that list and wondering, am I too old for this?, the answer is probably yes. JMBLYA is the biggest music festival in Dallas proper, but it’s also the biggest congregation of dehydrated, hyped up 15-year-olds in Dallas proper. I’m not trying to kill your vibe, I just want you to know what you’re getting into! Jonny Auping titled his 2019 review, “I Went To JMBYLA and All I Got Was This Lousy Awareness of My Fleeting Youth,” which was pretty accurate to my experience as a then-24-year-old attendee. I think the key is to go later in the day and with a group of fellow grown-ups, and I did neither of those things. I also got hit in the head with a water bottle, and it wasn’t even the first time that had happened to me at JMBLYA.

Anyway, tickets are on sale now starting at $89 for general admission and $189 for VIP. If you’re trying to keep a distance from the aforementioned mosh pit of hormonal adolescents, I’d recommend springing for VIP at the very least. You’re still going to be in a mosh pit, but it will be a more controlled and spacious mosh pit. The basic VIP level, “Pinky Ring VIP,” also gets you faster entry, and access to separate bars, bathrooms, and VIP lounges, which have perks like free massages. The more extravagant Gator Boots and Fur Coat VIP passes will give you even closer, more exclusive areas to watch the music; those start at $209.
