W Hotel in Victory Park launches a new Thursday night concert series this evening. Living Room Live will highlight emerging, local musicians every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The jam sessions are free and open to the public as well as hotel guests. It’s more or less a fancy hotel bar with a good soundtrack. This week, the event series kicks off with a performance by Dallas-based bluesy pop singer Luqman Rashada. Here’s one of his songs.

Next week, it’s the soulful Kirk Thurmond. Other editions include Sophia Annello, Taylor Hearne Duo, and Maya Piata. The hotel is bringing in a variety of musicians, but they’ll all be “upbeat, a little cutting edge, and unique.”

“We are focused on up-and-coming local artists so our goal was to give a platform to local artists who don’t always have a platform,” says Megan Long, Marketing Director for W Hotel Victory Park. “We really want to highlight Dallas, especially to our guests from out of town.”

The hotel plans to begin hosting bigger music events in the fall. Until then, you can stop by the Living Room and listen to a bit of local tunes while drinking in the scene alongside the $16 cocktails.
