DALLAS RESTAURANTS TO THE RESCUE

|

Whit Meyers writes:

You may have heard that the small shelters are being closed. If you have gathered things to deliver today–fabulous–please do so. If not, you may want to wait to find out if they are closed completely and moving to Reunion or if it is just closed to the incoming people. St Luke’s is still telling people just to show up to volunteer so even if the Samuel Rec Center is no longer a shelter site, St Luke’s will have a continuing need to distribute what they have collected including the special items requested earlier. Also, since DISD is letting the children in, there will likely be a call for school supplies coming. This is from a friend on the scene: “Everyone is getting moved to Reunion – just visited Samuel & they are moving the Red Cross completely out of it – but St Luke’s is still taking donated items & expects to be for weeks. Your people are asking for feminine products, shaving cream/razors, hairband/scunchies/bows for girls’ hair, t shirts, and you can never give enough socks & underwear & bottled water. FOR ALL OF US IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS, NOW IS THE TIME TO GET RID OF ALL THOSE CONCERT T-SHIRTS YOU NEVER WEAR.
