The National Association of Home Builders is one of, if not the, largest conventions in America. When it last came to Dallas, it enrolled 75,000 attendees. That’s huge dollars for Dallas. I have it on good authority that Wayne Stetson, the guy in charge of NAHB’s convention, dined at a fine Dallas establishment Friday night. But get this: a team from the Houston CVB showed at the same restaurant and asked for a table near his. They then proceeded to say hi and then smooze him over drinks.
They knew he was dining in Dallas that night–and where–and flew up just to be there.
Nobody from the Dallas CVB was in attendance.
