We asked Dallas tastemakers for their seasonal staples—those items that, for them, the holidays wouldn’t be complete without. Influencer Rosie Case shares her favorites.
Favorite place to buy gifts: I love the Camp Bowie Mercantile—they have everything from clothing and jewelry to antiques, kitchen accessories, and even wigs.
Go-to holiday cocktail or spirit: I really love prosecco around the holidays. It just feels more festive. I typically drink regular wine for the balance of the year.
Favorite holiday sweet treat: My great aunt used to make brownies with the most delicious mocha icing, and to my utter delight, my sister recently discovered the long-lost recipe.
Dish my holiday spread would be incomplete without: My legendary (in my own mind) gouda grits or hash brown casserole.
Favorite holiday tunes: My favorite Christmas album is A Charlie Brown Christmas by a thundering landslide.
Favorite holiday flick: Watching the charming 2019 animated film, Klaus, with my kids has become a new tradition.
Go-to sources for holiday décor: I keep my Christmas decor pretty minimal, but it’s hard to resist secondhand treasures from Lula B’s Cooper Street Antique Mall or Benbrook Antique Mall.
Must-have holiday decorative item: The heavily embellished and personalized handmade felt stockings made first by my great aunt, and then my sisters.
Favorite holiday tradition: The Italian-American feast of the seven fishes celebrated on Christmas Eve. Last year was the first year I attempted it on my own. Growing up on the Jersey Shore, we always celebrated it next door at my grandmother’s house.
