Today, on National Food Bank Day, we at D Magazine are thinking about our neighbors in need. One in six people in North Texas is food insecure. That means that hundreds of thousands of people in our region, from babies to seniors, don’t know where their next meal is coming from and could go to bed hungry tonight.

The North Texas Food Bank has been working overtime to ensure that all North Texans have access to nutritious food during the pandemic, including those who found themselves newly food insecure due to closed schools, job losses, and other COVID-related obstacles. In 2020, NTFB distributed an incredible 96.9 million meals. It also continued to develop community gardens, expand disaster relief efforts, support neighborhood and mobile food pantries, and educate the community about the importance of healthy eating.

You, readers, can join us in supporting the North Texas Food Bank’s mission. When you subscribe to D Magazine in the month of September, we’ll donate half of the subscription price ($19.95/year) to North Texas Food Bank. Each subscription purchased will provide 30 meals to someone in need.
