Concerns about the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine are a leading cause of hesitancy in Texas residents, slowing down the rate of vaccination, according to a poll by The Dallas Morning News. The poll surveyed unvaccinated Texans who have not scheduled an appointment and found 34% cited side effects as a factor, while 16% said they are “waiting to see” and 11% feel they don’t have enough information. A COVID-19 outbreak occurred last month at a Texas camp organized by a church in Galveston County’s League City with nearly 150 adult and child church campers in Texas catching COVID-19, KERA reports. That county’s health director said 57 residents tested positive and more than 90 others self-reported their positive COVID-19 cases. The church canceled services this past weekend and for this coming Sunday.
