On July 17, the COVID-19 vaccination site at Fair Park in Dallas will shut down, the Dallas Morning News reports. The vaccination site first opened to serve Dallas’ historically underserved communities. In recent weeks, the number of new coronavirus cases has slowed and demand for vaccines has dropped, with many vaccine sites in Dallas closing down.

Concerns amongst North Texans about the Delta variant of COVID-19 is growing. Although the Alpha variant is still more common, the Delta variant is more transmissible. Data shows prevalence of the variant more than doubled in samples from May 28 to June 3, according to the UT Southwestern Medical Center. Learn more with KERA.
