McKinney-based Blockit has been selected by the Houston Methodist hospital system to implement its consumer scheduling, referral management, and imaging scheduling platform.
Earlier this year, Blockit landed a deal with Michigan’s largest health system. Blockit provides digital solutions for health systems, allowing patients to book and follow up on their care and track their way through the system. Houston Methodist serves millions of patients across the state, with six hospitals and more than 1,890 physicians. The partnership will integrate employed and affiliated providers’ scheduling availability, making sure patients don’t fall through care cracks.

Patient leakage can negatively impact a hospital and society’s bottom line. According to a Piroblast study, 87 percent of hospital executives say leakage is significant, and nearly half of all executives say they lose around 10 percent of revenue due to patients not following up with their appointments. The same study noted that 60 percent of institutions don’t know if patients received the care for which they were referred. Additionally, when patients miss follow-up or preventative appointments, they often end up with more expensive care down the line.
