In Dallas County, 14 people died from COVID-19 on Tuesday, while the county added 225 new positive cases. Ages of the deceased ranged from 40s to 90s, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Two weeks ago, Abbott said his goal was to have 25,000 tests a day by mid-May, but the seven day average over the last week was just 17,000. Experts say the key to reopening the economy is increased testing and contract tracing. Read more with KERA.

Tarrant County added seven deaths and 84 new cases on Tuesday as well, bringing the total to 130 deaths due to COVID-19, NBCDFW reports.

Texas has been combining COVID-19 tests with antibody testing, which muddies the water around just how many Texans have recovered from the disease. It inflates total testing numbers and clouds the ability to understand how the disease is moving through the population. Read more from the Texas Observer.
