A $125 million women’s hospital, a year and a half in the works, has officially opened at Medical City’s flagship campus in Dallas. The five-floor addition has a total of 222 rooms, including 24 “modern” labor and delivery rooms; four C-section operating rooms; 84 private, level IV NICU rooms; 12 VIP suites; and 16 women’s medical/surgical rooms.
First announced in late 2016, the project was built on to Medical City Dallas’ Care Tower D. It’s called Medical City Women’s Hospital Dallas.
Medical City Healthcare calls it a “luxury” women’s hospital that will provide a “spa-like environment.” Along the amenities that come with the three different sizes of VIP labor and deliver suites, Medical City lists things like a separate room for family members to stay overnight, Tempur-Pedic murphy beds, refrigerators, a “chef prepared celebratory meal,” a 55-inch flat screen, and upscale linens.
“This unique facility enables mothers and babies to receive world-class care under one roof, without being separated if a higher level of care is needed after delivery,” said Bill Lee, CEO of Medical City Children’s Hospital and Medical City Women’s Hospital Dallas, in a statement. “In addition, this specialized Women’s Hospital allows us to provide the full continuum of high-level women’s healthcare, including access to specialists and experts conveniently located on our campus with modern amenities.”
The women’s hospital was part of a $1.7 billion capital investment laid out by Medical City Healthcare over five years.
