I’ve never lived in Oak Cliff, but based on the sentiments of those that do, it’s a magical place. Particularly the Kessler Park area, revered for its architectural character and hilly terrain. It’s a place where multiple generations continue to settle, and where many a “10 Most Beautiful Home” resides. In a 2010 D Home feature on Todd Fiscus and Rob Dailey’s glamorous, Kessler Park abode, Dailey said, “I swear to God it’s, like, 5 degrees cooler here, too.” That’s something.
1210 Winnetka Avenue lives up to the hype. Charming awnings, designer wallpaper, plantation shutters, a Carrara marble-filled kitchen, and an inviting backyard pool amp up the appeal (both curb and beyond), but the real story here is the home’s expansion. For reference, here’s a Google Earth image of the home back in 2011. The then one-story, 1930s Tudor–though seriously lacking in the landscaping department—is still lovely (and light blue!). But most importantly, it’s clearly the same home you’d find at 1210 Winnetka today, just with more house, cool pavers, and a petite front-yard patio that really works.
