Taste of Dallas announces student competitions and scholarships during three-day festival:
Taste of Dallas has partnered with Mission Restaurant Supply, El Centro College, and the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association for a fun head-to-head cooking challenge.

According to the release:

El Centro College Mentor Cooking Competitions will be presented by Mission Restaurant Supply on Saturday and Sunday. The Chefs of Tomorrow Scholarships will be awarded by Taste of Dallas, in cooperation with the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association. Mission Restaurant Supply will present a total of six El Centro College Mentor Cooking Competitions. Each competition will pit two teams against each other, comprised of a well-known chef, who will serve as a mentor, and a high school or college student. At the time of each competition, the teams will receive “mystery baskets” containing five ingredients from which only the students may cook the dish. Chef mentors will know in advance what the ingredients are of three baskets they may receive, and they will work with their student teammate in advance to prepare for all three possibilities.

Participating chefs are: Janice Provost, Abraham Salum, Nick Walker, Josh Sutcliff, Anastacia Quinones, John Tesar, Brian Luscher, Peter Barlow, Josh Harmon, Matt McCallister, and Joel Orsini.
