Will a Private Trinity Park Group Be Able to Build a Toll Road? Depends on who you ask. The City Council will talk it out next week.

Gov. Abbott to Meet With Dallas, Fort Worth Mayors. After initially snubbing Mike Rawlings and Betsy Price, who requested a meeting to discuss the governor’s fixation on curbing local control, Abbott will speak with the mayors in person next week. He will presumably inform them that control, local or otherwise, is an illusion, and we’re all just fragile rafts buffeted on the waves of fate.

See Yu Later? Anyone? The Rangers are reportedly seeking to trade pitcher Yu Darvish, who has been with the club since 2012.

We’ve Got Ourselves a Tire Fire. This is not what is usually meant by “burning rubber.” Dallas Fire-Rescue spent much of Thursday fending off a conflagration at the Yello Belly Racetrack near Grand Prairie. Fortunately, nobody was injured. What caused the tire fire has yet to be determined.

It’s Hot Outside. The heatwave continues. Many things will melt when subjected to high temperatures.
