John Wiley Price has us hole searching.
|

Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up: in July, Dallas County Commissioner Ken Mayfield—whose skin is light pink—said in a meeting that the county’s ticket collections office, which has a reputation for losing paperwork, “has become a black hole.” Commissioner John Wiley Price—whose skin is a rich brown—corrected him, suggesting the term “white hole” be applied to the collections office. Mayfield parried, offering the term “pink hole.” The exchange made national news, and it led us to at least one surprising revelation about the universe. As it turns out, there is such a thing as a white hole. According to a Cornell astronomy website: “A white hole will turn up in your mathematics if you explore the space-time around a black hole without including the star which made the black hole (i.e., there is absolutely no matter in the solution).” Got that? Now, when we searched the Web for elucidation on the term “pink hole,” we were surprised by matter totally unrelated to cosmology.
