“The September barbecue cover looked so delicious that I almost could have eaten it. I’d skip the sides, except for Texas toast and dipping sauces from sweet to spicy—love them all. I considered red wine, but that might compete with the sauce, so I’d go with a buttery Chardonnay or Texas-brewed pale ale. If I could pick, my dining partner would be Caroline Rose Hunt, a larger-than-life Texan with a big heart.”

How long have you been in Dallas?

I have been in Dallas for 22 years. After living in several states (climates and economies), Dallas is a remarkable city and community.

What’s your favorite Dallas restaurant?

This is not a fair question. I love creative chefs, great service, and authentic atmospheres. Dallas restaurants know how to deliver all three! I am partial to brunch at Toulouse.

What’s your ideal way to spend a weekend in Dallas?

I would need multiple weekends. A visit to Klyde Warren Park with sips at Savor and listen to the Cathedral bells; get inspired at the DMA and Nasher Sculpture Garden; shopping at downtown Neiman Marcus and NorthPark; browse the library at The Joule; anything at the Crescent Spa; sightings at the Ritz and Mansion; music and Broadway in the Arts District; stroll through Bishop Arts; Mavs or Stars at AAC; ride the trolley in Uptown; take picture in Turtle Creek; soak up the optimistic energy of the SMU Boulevard; I could go on and on.

Are you involved with any local charities? If so, which ones? How are you involved?

I have served many organizations over the years, including Junior League of Dallas, Center for Nonprofit Management, Business Council for the Arts, Children’s Medical Center, and many more advocating for the arts, child & family services.

What’s your favorite thing about Dallas?

People. Entrepreneurial spirit.

What’s your favorite Dallas landmark?

My favorite landmarks of Dallas have evolved with the city’s growth, however, the Priddy Memorial Fountain on Armstrong delivers me a smile and sense of peace that something so beautiful welcomes you.

What’s one thing you would change about the city?

Encourage collaboration among organizations to tackle tough social problems such as homelessness and build opportunities to unite arts and culture experiences throughout the region.

Why do you subscribe to D Magazine?

I subscribe to D Magazine for perspective and to support their online efforts. FrontBurner, D online, and columnist blogs are witty, relevant, and insightful to the state of our city bringing us fresh content daily.
