Grapevine Craft Brewery Wins 2014 GABF Gold Medal

Texas kicked some seriously sudsy butt at this year's Great American Beer Festival.
|

Grapevine Craft Brewery nabbed a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival awards in Denver, Colorado this past weekend. The brewery placed first in the English Brown Ale category for their Sir William’s English Brown Ale. If you recall, with help from a panel of judges, we dubbed this particular brew the best non-seasonal beer in Dallas earlier in the year.

There were over five thousand entries for the 2014 GABF awards, and the winners were selected by a panel of over two hundred expert judges. Sixteen Texas beers took home medals. Peticolas Brewing Company received first place in the Aged Beer category for their 2012 Great Scot!. Community Beer Company took home a bronze medal in the Coffee Beer category for their Ascension brew and a gold medal in the Extra Special Bitter category for their Public Ale. And Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. took home the bronze in the German-Style Doppelbock or Eisbock division. It’s safe to say that Texas kicked some seriously sudsy butt this year.

Curious about who else placed? You can check out all of the 2014 GABF winners here.
