The culinary minds of Dallas are at it again to bring the city a night of exclusive dining in the name of charity. The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America visits Dallas on September 26 for “A Night of Culinary Stars” at the Hilton Anatole Hotel with a menu collaboration from James Beard award winner Patrick O’Connell and local chef Stephan Pyles.

The night will begin with a reception filled with bites and libations from local chefs, including Tim Byres (Smoke), Omar Flores (Casa Rubia), Matt McCallister (FT 33), Janice Provost (Parigi), and David Uygur (Lucia). Afterwards, guests will come together for a four-course dinner that appears to be under wraps until the unveiling of the event. As you get up to make room for more in your stomach, you can take part in both a live and silent auction filled with “items for foodies.”

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Scholarship Fund, which local culinary students are invited to apply for through jamesbeard.org. Additionally, Café Momentum will participate in the collaboration to showcase some of their culinary students.

This shindig all goes down on a Friday, which means it’s only the beginning of the weekend. The James Beard Foundation agrees and will continue festivities through Saturday with a day of free culinary events starting at 10:30 am. Expect a cooking demonstration from O’Connell, cookbook signings, a cheese tasting courtesy from artisanal vendor Paula Lambert, and a chocolate tasting from popular Kate Weiser.

Tickets are pricey, but it’s all for a good cause and the chef lineup runs deep with local talent. Pick your ticket option here before it sells out. Kitchen space is limited for chef demos, so get your spot by emailing [email protected]. Indicate the city, number of guests, and time of the cooking demonstration you wish to attend. Each reservation is limited to a maximum of 4 persons, and each demo will be one hour. Reservations will be held until 15 minutes before start of demo.
