The 2010 Great American Beer Festival took place over the weekend in Denver. This year’s competition attracted 3,523 beers and 151 judges from 10 countries. Brewers received gold, silver, and bronze medals in 79 beer categories covering 133 beer styles, establishing the best examples of each style in the U.S. Interesting note: The most competitive category was American-style India Pale Ale with 142 entries.

Here’s a link to the official press release and another to the complete list of winners. It’s a great read. Congratulations to the Covey Restaurant & Brewery in Fort Worth. They brought home a silver medal for their Cowboy Lager.

I know there was a sizable group of Dallas beer lovers who made it to the event in Denver. We’d love to hear about your experience. Also, if any local taverns are planning to feature some of the winning beer, we’d like to hear!
