Coming Soon to a Neighborhood Near You?

I wish. Last weekend I stumbled into a Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market in Southern California. The small grocery store full of freshly prepared food, produce, and basic essentials such as milk, flowers, and wine is a “to go food” fantasy come true. The burgeoning chain is owned by Tesco, the Wal-Mart of the United Kingdom, and they have plans to build 100 stores across Southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Sure it’s fast, fresh, and easy but it’s also nutritious–all of the packaging I read noted the country of origin, ingredients, and date in font size I could read without my glasses. The pre-packaged meals are made in the store. You can pick up a quick lunch or a dinner for four at low prices. If there was one across the street, I would be there right now. Forget about In-N-Out, somebody with money call these guys and pepper our Dallas neighborhoods with these stores. NOW. Check out photos below.

Photos from top to bottom: Family meals section; Great, easy-to-read (except for my flash) packaging; Only $7.29 for three center-cut pork chops about an inch thick; No frills aisles of ready-to-go packaged food.
