See Our Very Own Margaux Anbouba in “Oral Fixation”

You'll be glad you did.

MargauxAnbouba2Oral Fixation is a live storytelling series that takes place monthly at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. (You may have read a story about founder Nicole Stewart in the Dallas Morning News this weekend.) Participants, who audition and are chosen from a group of hopefuls, share short tales from their lives that all relate to a theme. The theme for this month’s performance, which will be held next Monday, Jan. 27, is “Silver Lining.”

Those of you who scored tickets to next week’s show are in for an extra-special treat: Our darling online editor, Margaux Anbouba, will be one of the featured performers.  She’ll be sharing a story about her mother’s battle with cancer. We generally know her to be pretty fearless and just all-around awesome, but her willingness to stand up in front of a group of people and share a story — much less one so personal — pretty much has us in awe.

Outwardly, she hasn’t shown any signs of nervousness leading up to the big show. But when reached for comment (read: when shouted at across the partition), she copped to some jitters. “Last time I did public speaking, I vomited,” she says. “In front of everyone.”

In all seriousness, we’re enormously proud of our newest team member. If you don’t already have tickets for the show, it is unfortunately sold out. But we’ll be sure to post our (biased) review after the show.
