Two of the area’s most prominent dance organizations have announced their 2012-2013 seasons. Ben Stevenson’s Texas Ballet Theater will feature an all new Nutcracker; a Stevenson choreographed adaptation of a Norwegian fairy tale, Peer Gynt; the North Texas premiere of Glen Tetley’s Voluntaries; and Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena, which mixes Bach and African rhythm and dancing. The season will close with a two weekend festival, featuring Balachine’s Theme & Variations and Ben Stevenson’s Mozart Requiem. And, of course, on December 21st you can catch the one night only performance of the local favorite, The Nutty Nutcracker.

TITAS will bring back some familiar faces to the AT&T Performing Arts Center, including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, and Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, which was a smash hit when the group came through town in 2010. Other music performances presented by TITAS will include Marc Broussard, The Ahn Trio, and Bella Gaia, which features ethereal music set to images of the cosmos. Additional dance performers include Doug Varone and Dancers, Stephen Petronio Dance Company, Grupo Corp, and the return of The Joffrey Ballet after 20 years to perform Nijinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps (Rite of Spring) in celebration of the work’s 100th anniversary.
