Gut Punch of the Morning: Almost 50 Dogs Killed In House Fire

A man (burns on his hands) and a woman (smoke inhalation) were injured in an East Dallas house fire this morning, near Woodrow Wilson High School. Both are expected to be OK. But they weren't alone, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans. He says here that there were at least 50 dogs inside and most of them died in the fire. At least 50 dogs. In a one-story house. Good lord. Just look at that little dog with the oxygen mask over its face. 50 dogs! How did no one notice? 50! If you don't mind, I'm going to go stare into the middle distance for an extended period of time.
