I’ve gone into interviews with little-to-no preparation before. Anybody who’s been a journalist for several years can say the same. But even when you don’t have time to prepare questions, you need to take a second to listen to the answers. For example, if you’re former Channel 8 sports reporter Mike Hill, and actor Liam Neeson tells you he knows nothing about football, your follow-up question should probably not be about the Jets’ quarterback controversy. (Thanks to BaD Radio for bringing this gold to my attention.)
