Buzz Bissinger Disses Big D

|

You know Buzz Bissinger as the author of Friday Night Lights. His new book is called Father’s Day: A Journey into the Mind and Heart of My Extraordinary Son. Says the Amazon description: “Buzz Bissinger’s twins were born three minutes — and a world — apart. Gerry, the older one, is a graduate student at Penn, preparing to become a teacher. His brother Zach has spent his life attending special schools. He’ll never drive a car, or kiss a girl, or live by himself.”

Anyway, Bissinger is on a book tour, and he was recently through Dallas — which he apparently did not enjoy. He took to Twitter 12 minutes ago and unleased this series of tweets (from oldest to newest):

Based on book tour, if Dallas slid into sinkhole, nation’s IQ would rise by 50 points.

@JKSTL21 My ego fit in. It was the brains of Dallas that didn’t fit in. Biggest crowd ever where I spoke–Ozzie Osbourne. Rest my case.

Could not get any local publicity in Dallas. Plus petty vindictive review by a dickasaurus douchejuciest jealous prick. Dumb-assed nonsense.

@jbatsell If you’re from Dallas, you’re not into anything except watching the Cowgirls suck.

Qualifications of Dallas Morning reviewer Alex Lemon. Teaches writing at Texas Christian University. I once again rest my fucking case.

A reviewer can say anything he wants. I say anything I want back. If for some godforsaken reason I am at TCU, I will find Alex Lemon.

@RobertWilonsky How the fuck do you want me to respond? With doves flying out of my armpits? Read Father’s Day. Then decide.

Bissinger is known for his surliness and for picking fights. I guess it’s entertaining?

Update: Here is Alex Lemon‘s review. I wouldn’t call it vindictive.
