A good profile of Pat Summerall in today’s NYT, timed with the publication of his new autobiography. In it (both the profile and the book) are accounts of Summerall’s fun-time reaction to fatigue and medication after his liver transplant. In addition to shaving part of his head to look like Bruce Willis and complaining to his wife that his lips fell off, Summerall wandered down the hospital corridor in a surgical gown and with a towel on his head like a turban.
