RE: HISTORICAL SOCIETY UNDERWATER?

|

Michael Duty, the executive director of the Historical Society, tells us what’s happening:

We are glad to know that you are thinking about us at the Dallas Historical Society. Actually, the water main break, which occurred in late August, was behind our building, but it did cause a flood on our lower floor where our archives are located. Fortunately, damage was minimal; no significant collections were lost or damaged. The sub-floor beneath the compact storage racks in the archives was damaged and has been removed. Once the State Fair is over, that floor will be replaced and we will be back in business. We have temporarily closed the archives because access to the racks is more limited until the floor is repaired, not because of any collections loss.

We expect to be back to normal operations no later than December 1.
