Prepare for a Little Malachite Eye Candy

I’m in the midst of a search for new fabric for my breakfast room chairs.  They’re armless Marcel Breuer Cescas that my best friend scored at an estate sale (and then kindly bequeathed to me), and they’re currently sporting some rather unfortunate buttery yellow chenille.  It’s a bad scene.

My first inclination was to go for something low-key, understated, classic… But then I came across these roman shades made of Tony Duquette’s “Gemstone” fabric in Elle Decor, and I was off.

I promptly hit up the interwebs and proceeded to uncover all sorts of malachite goodness… There were malachite covered chairs on 1st Dibs (again that Tony Duquette fabric), malachite topped tables (courtesy of Dallas-based Global Views), and malachite consoles (spotted here).

And then there’s the matter of Dallas design doyenne Michelle Nussbaumer’s malachite pants… Awesome, yes?

Clearly low-key, understated, fabric will no longer do for my Cescas.  I’m not sure I can swing the Tony Duquette fabric, but I did spot a nice facsimile on the DIY fabric site Spoonflower.

So what say you friends on my malachite moment?  Yay or nay?
