Reservation Day” for KRLD Restaurant Week presented by Central Market officially kicks-off today, Monday, July 18. The heat is on to book summer dining deals at over 125 regional hot spots opening up tables, and currently accepting reservations for this special giveback opportunity supporting the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope Home. “Dining Out’s a Good Deed, Helping Families in Need” beginning August 15-21 when consumers will turn out in support of what many now savor as a summer fundraising tradition.

Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties are all represented this year. Some of the highlights include longtime supporters Abacus, Del Frisco’s and Stephan Pyles; newcomers like Tei-An and Nosh; and other popular establishments, including: III Forks, Al Biernat’s, Bijoux, Bonnell’s Restaurant, Brownstone, Fearing’s – Ritz Carlton, Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck, GRACE, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, Parigi, Shinsei, The French Room – The Adolphus, and The Mansion.
KRLD Restaurant Week presented by Central Market, which showcases North Texas’ thriving culinary scene, features tasty three-course prix fixe dinner combinations priced at only $35/person (tax, tip and drinks billed separately). What’s more, consumer patronage helps support local fine dining establishments and two great charity partners. For every prix fixe meal purchased, participating restaurants will make a $7.00 donation to either the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas or Lena Pope Home in Fort Worth. Reservations are required, and diners should specify “KRLD Restaurant Week” when booking.
“This is one of our most popular fundraisers since it enables diners to treat themselves while helping others, and encourages them to venture out and potentially discover new ‘go to’ establishments,” said Jan Pruitt, president and CEO, North Texas Food Bank. “Giving back never tasted as good as it does each August. Every meal consumed during this timeframe enables our organization to put food on the table for area children, families and seniors especially with summer being the hungriest time of the year.” This year’s fundraising goal is $650,000 dollars, which is nearly $50,000 more than the record amount generated in 2010 from diner patronage at participating restaurants.
“This appetizing fundraiser enables friends, relatives and colleagues to reconnect tableside, while shining a spotlight on culinary standouts located throughout the DFW Metroplex,” explained Todd A. Landry, executive director, Lena Pope Home. “Who would turn down the opportunity to dine out and support the best restaurants at a discounted cost, while helping local children and families in need?”
To book a spot, call the desired establishment and request a “KRLD Restaurant Week” reservation, or make one online at KRLD.com (just follow the link to OpenTable). Please be advised that popular places close out fast, smaller groups are easier to seat, and flexibility is appreciated. Off-peak evenings (i.e. Monday to Wednesday) are often less in demand. Opting to dine out on a weeknight vs. a weekend may help ensure a prime table and time slot. Plus, many restaurants will extend their participation by one or even two full weeks (through August 28 or even September 4) — opening up additional seatings. Take advantage of this great opportunity by trying out a new spot each night. Set out on a taste adventure and discover the many genres and flavors featured in North Texas’ enviable culinary scene.
Back again for a fourth straight year, is “Preview” weekend happening August 12-14. Get a taste of DFW’s great restaurant bar scene, while trying out 48 select establishments’ special KRLD Restaurant Week menus a tad early. Though the price increases to $42 per person, diners still receive three courses plus the addition of a fun, summery house drink made with Ultimat Vodka or Patrón XO Cafe coffee liqueur. Seven dollars of each meal still supports the charity partners.
Additionally, as an added bonus, each participating restaurant is encouraged to suggest appropriate wine flight and pairing selections to compliment their prix fix menu selections (be advised though that alcohol is billed as an extra charge). Glazer’s and the American Institute of Wine and Food (AIWF) will determine the best menu and wine combination. The winning chef / sommelier will then receive a week’s stay at the Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone, Calif., campus.
The FREE Fourth Course Promotion returns!
Central Market, the presenting sponsor of KRLD Restaurant Week, is again offering its hugely popular Fourth Course promotion until August 31 or while supplies last. Some establishments will create an additional “Fourth Course” menu item of the chef’s choosing that complements the standard $35 meal. This course, traditionally an appetizer or side dish feature, is free if the diner presents a Central Market Fourth Course certificate. Consumers making an in-store purchase of $25 or more at DFW Central Market locations will receive a certificate redeemable for a free fourth course (valid at participating establishments). Just present the receipt at the Info Desk to receive one.
