Today, people from around the globe will take on a touch of the Irish to celebrate "the Day of the Festival of Patrick." Dallas is no exception.

A critical component of capitalism is competition. Competing in the marketplace has yielded the greatest creation of wealth, the greatest distribution of wealth, and the highest standard of living of any place on the globe.

At times I get to moving so quickly or become so focused on what we do every day (let’s just call it the routines of life), I miss the opportunity to see some of the great things going on in our community. Recently, Scott Collier, my friend and colleague at Jones Lang LaSalle, encouraged me to slow down for a moment so he could introduce me to Dallas' CitySquare.

As I listened to the speeches by the former Presidents, I was struck by the harmony between these men, how kind and gracious they were in their remarks, and the fact that while philosophically moving in different directions, they would put all of that aside for the one common theme—their individual love of this country and the freedoms we enjoy.
