The Design District Welcomes Mysa Medical & Wellness Spa
Mysa Medical & Wellness Spa debuted in the Design District last weekend with a grand opening celebration. The med spa, which was founded by Cameroon native and registered nurse Ryan Abety, has one of the broadest scopes of beauty and wellness services in Dallas. The treatment menu includes facials, injectables, waxing, nail care, massages, microblading, and lash treatments. Mysa also boasts its own collection of beauty and wellness products, created in collaboration with other Black-owned brands like Nolaskinsentials and Brea’s Candles.
Mysa Medical & Wellness Spa has been in the works for nearly two years. Abety previously saw clients in a one-room suite in Uptown, but when she couldn’t keep up with demand, she decided to launch a standalone spa with her own team of estheticians and nurse injectors.
Abety emphasizes that Mysa is an inclusive environment–all skin types, gender identities, and budgets are welcome. “My aim with Mysa is to change the definition of beauty as we know it,” she says. “[It’s] what you want it to be, not what you’re told it should be. So no matter your age, your skin type, or your goals, Mysa will help you achieve your definition of beauty.”
Well & Being Opens in Frisco
The Westin Dallas Stonebriar Golf Resort & Spa recently received a $30 million makeover, which included the addition of its brand-new spa, Well & Being Frisco. This full-service retreat was designed to complement the hotel’s existing amenities, like a fitness studio, outdoor yoga lawn, pool, and access to an 18-hole golf course at the adjacent Stonebriar Country Club. In addition to specialty treatments like the Stonebriar Golf Recovery Massage, the menu has standard offerings like massages, facials, body wraps, and waxes. (Expect luxury pricing–massages top out at $275 and body wraps at $370.) The spa is open to resort-goers and locals alike, and on Mondays and Thursdays, patrons not staying at the hotel can spread out and enjoy its amenities after their appointments. Barkin’ Creek Dog Kitchen and Bath Debuts in The Village
This Austin import recently opened its first North Texas location in The Village. Barkin’ Creek is best known for its gourmet dog food, which is crafted in an onsite kitchen using locally sourced ingredients like meat, sweet potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, and cranberries. The shop also offers spa services for furry friends both large and small. Like a traditional salon, guests book a time for their pet’s treatment–no drop-ins here–and consult with a stylist before the process begins. The spa offers mud baths, blowouts, massages, and other add-ons, plus traditional grooming. Your pet will enjoy Westminister Kennel Club-approved products during their treatments and can even get a breed-standard cut. Once finished, pets wait for their owners in a suite, not a cage. Dr. Barbara Sturm Will Open a Spa in Highland Park Village
Dr. Barbara Sturm, skincare guru to the stars and the pioneer of the plasma facial, is one of the biggest names in beauty. The respected German physician’s gentle, anti-aging, and cruelty-free products can be found on the shelves of major beauty retailers worldwide, from Bluemercury to Cos Bar. There are also four Dr. Barbara Sturm Boutique & Spa locations across the United States and Europe. Soon, that’ll be five–a new location is set to open later this year in Highland Park Village, next door to LoveShackFancy. Though we don’t know many details just yet, we do know that the spa will include a tea bar, multiple treatment rooms, and a retail space stocking the aesthetic doctor’s eponymous products.
