The heat is here, and it’s coming for our blowouts.

There are only two Frédéric Fekkai salons located outside of New York. One is in Palm Beach, Florida. The other is tucked, quite covertly, behind Frame and Carolina Herrera in Dallas’ Highland Park Village. Inside the chic space, there are masters of balayage, expertly crafted complimentary lattes, makeup touch-ups, one elegant nail station, and some of the best hair stylists you’ll find in the city.

Now that summer heat and humidity have officially landed in Dallas (and only seem to be getting worse), we polled Fekkai hair gurus on how best to maintain our manes.

A cute, messy bun is an easy way to free up hair from your neck. Any tips for mastering that look? Is there a product that can give you the Meghan Markle effect?
Brandon Naylor: Clean hair is more slippery, so when trying to achieve a messy bun, prep the hair with dry shampoo or texturizing spray to give some grit and texture to the hair before putting it up.

Yamen Dak: To achieve the Meghan Markle bun, apply little mousse on the roots to end and dry hair with blow dryer. When it’s all dry, spray Fekkai texturizing spray on the mid lengths of the hair. Next, braid the hair and twist the braid into a low bun, inserting two pins and setting with hairspray.

Is there a braid style you predict wil be popular this summer?
Brandon Naylor: I think the Dutch braid is a good go-to for summer, because it’s close to the scalp and gets the hair off of the neck.

What’s the best way to protect your hair from chlorine?
Tony Salle: Be sure to use pre-pool care products, like the Fekkai Pre-Soleil Hair Mist.

Yamen Dak: Using the Fekkai PrX Reparatives Intense Fortifying Mask after a day of swimming keeps hair in great, moisturized condition.

Is there a way to tame hair when humidity hits?
Yamen Dak: Yes, my favorite product is the Fekkai Blowout Sealing Serum – it’s hair candy!  Keep it in your purse at all times! When you feel your hair is out of control, use the serum to moisturize it and it’ll seal all flyaways.

Brandon Naylor: A temporary solution to humidity would be an anti-frizz regimen, like The One by Frédéric Fekkai’s The Tamed One ShampooConditioner and Balm or Fekkai’s classic Ironless Shampoo and Conditioner. A longer-lasting solution would be the Cezanne smoothing treatment, which we do in the salon to smooth the cuticle and help reduce frizz. It lasts three to four months, and also cuts down on drying time.

How important is it to completely dry and style your hair in the hot summer months?
Tony Salle: It’s really important to completely dry your hair–the water kept on the scalp will re-wet the hair and cause the cuticle/hair to frizz. Wet or damp hair will block you from having natural volume.
