The Texas Rangers’ celebration of their inaugural World Series championship felt like the wait itself: urgent. If the number of people in attendance felt shy of the announced half a million, those who trekked to Arlington more than made up for it with sheer commitment.
The first-ever Rangers championship parade was a scene of cars jammed in every lot, on every hill, even in medians and butting against highway on-ramps. The fans wore a kaleidoscope of seemingly every hue of red, white, and blue the Rangers had worn in their previously championship-less 52 years in North Texas. The fans screamed their chants for each and every truck on the route, from Bruce Bochy (“He’s The GOAT! He’s The GOAT!”) and Corey Seager (“MVP! MVP! MVP!”) all the way down to the field staff. (“Field Staff! Field Staff! Field Staff!”) They roared at Chuck Morgan’s gleeful proclamation that he was finally able to introduce the world champion Texas Rangers.
