This Aspen, Colorado vacation home is the epitome of bringing the outdoors in.  Truly an escape, with organic elements featuring one-of-a-kind natural stones all throughout the home.

Aria Stone Gallery filled this tranquil oasis with a variety of hand-selected marbles, quartzites, and onyx with one-of-a-kind applications such as entirely cladded showers, floors, fireplaces, walls—and yes!—even ceilings.

Sterling McDavid, a Dallas-Fort Worth Texas native, collaborated with Aria Stone Gallery on the stone selections for this incredible family retreat in Aspen, Colorado. The estate, which was expertly executed by Aspen-based Charles Cunniffe Architects, resides among the rolling mountains and peaceful forests making it no surprise that the one central design theme remained: echo the natural beauty of the surroundings by bringing organic elements and nature-inspired touches inside the home.

Aria provided a turn-key service supplying all the stones in the space, which made designing a home convenient and efficient for McDavid. This innovative stone boutique provided carefully templated spaces which featured intricate designs of vein-matched stone, flowing effortlessly from seam to seam. A clear example of this concept is the spa, for instance, which is completely clad from floor to ceiling in White Macaubas quartzite. (We can already feel our blood pressure lowering!)

And luckily, you don’t have to book a flight to Aspen to tour the space. Click through for a virtual peek of this dreamy vacation home.

Featured in the kitchen is a stunning Calacatta Lincoln marble countertop and backsplash, specially hand-selected by Aria Stone Gallery from the Colorado Yule Marble Quarry, just a stone’s throw away from this estate. The stone perfectly complements the modern lines and fresh aesthetic of the space. White kitchens are still hot, but the trend is veering towards darker hues in the kitchen. McDavid gets to have a little bit of both with the crisp white surfaces that contrast with the brown cabinetry and sleek light fixture and hardware.

In the living room and bar, McDavid chose a stunning Black Moon Onyx from Aria Stone Gallery as the bookmatched waterfall bar feature. The waterfall element creates a sculptural focal piece within the living space. And as it was intended, it’s a sophisticated spot to pop an après bottle of bubbly.

Between skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer, the spa-like master bathroom should always be an invitation to unwind and relax. Aria Stone Gallery’s Calacatta Vagli Marble covers every square inch, creating a seamless integration between all of the surfaces, making the space a true gem.

Here, another image of the master bath shows that the space is cladded from the floors to the walls to the countertops. McDavid wanted all of the materials to be consistent and match throughout the bathroom space. This was made possible by fabricating the slab into floor tiles. It’s bright and airy with natural light, which casts a natural glow on the marble.

For this guest bathroom’s shower, McDavid decided to go with a darker tone. McDavid chose two slabs of Agata granite from Aria Stone Gallery for her bookmatched shower wall. The result is a spa-like bath with a moody personality.

Here, Aria Stone Gallery’s Valley Gold Vein marble is installed as a floating vanity in this guest bath. Just because it’s not the master doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve special attention—it’s a small touch that makes a big statement.

Aria Stone Gallery is a luxury stone supplier that provides hand-selected, rare stones from around the world. With a belief that stone is a work of art, Aria displays slabs in a gallery-like environment to best showcase the full beauty of each one.  The owner, Vinny Tavares, frequently travels to the most exclusive quarries from Brazil to Italy to the Middle East, to source the perfect materials (first-quality only slabs…the 9’s and 10’s out of a 10 scale) and they pride themselves on being one of the only suppliers to do so. Instead of trying to fulfill a pre-determined stock list of standard materials, selections are made based on the uniqueness of each stone. Unique to the industry, Aria sells both to the trade and direct to the public, offering a completely transparent model as they display the origin, size, and price on each of the slabs in the gallery and online.

With that being said, Aria has been pushing boundaries since their grand opening five years ago. Since then they have opened a second location in Houston and a third business line with an e-commerce division of the company. Their business is built on creating one-of-a-kind installations that can’t be replicated. That’s the real beauty in all of the design features—they aren’t just trends; they are timeless design applications using natural stone.
