3 Simple Ways to Wake Up with Glowing Skin

Your guide to healthier looking skin.

A recent move found me sitting in the middle of my bathroom floor, sorting through boxes of creams, gels, and supplements I’ve barely used. “Why did I buy this?” “What has this done for me?” Frustrated, I stood up to face the mirror and glared at a small sun spot settling in on my nearly-thirty face. I decided it was time for a change. I tossed all my old products and set out to achieve healthy, beautiful skin without the assistance of creams or pills. New rule: If I wouldn’t eat it, I’m not putting it on my skin. Below are three easy, natural routines that have produced almost instant results.

Brush

Pick up a dry brush with natural bristles and give yourself a stimulating scrub 2-3 times per week to quickly remove layers of dead skin without any creams or chemicals. Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system just like an expensive massage. Start at your feet and work in small circles first, then big, swooping strokes towards your heart.

Soak

Fill a warm bath and add 2 cups Epsom salt, 1 cup baking soda, 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil for extra good vibes. Epsom salts are a combination of sulfate and magnesium. These two elements are easily broken down and absorbed through the skin. Helping to shed toxins, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation.

Nourish

According to Trisha Paulson, with DFW Medical & Wellness Spa, “We lose collagen as we age. It is the most important component for healthy looking skin.” Your skin is your largest organ. Dry patches, outbreaks, and sensitivities are little signs that something is off. I keep a collagen supplement and a full water bottle at my desk at all times.
