Dallas style gurus and creatives joined forces for an evening filled with bold prints and furs at Fashion Group International’s 2018 Rising Star last night. The Jan Strimple-produced show features six emerging designers, all of whom brought something fresh and creative to the runway. From mixed prints to bold Afrocentric vibes, here’s a recap of the designers to keep your eyes peeled for.
1. NeoBantu (Women’s Wear)
The Designer: Tendai Tawonezvi
The Look: Mixed prints and bright hues come together to create this line. Designer Tendai Tawonezvi incorporates African prints on cotton pieces for a modern twist on tradition.
How to Wear It: Think daytime office wear to happy hour with friends.
2. Don Morphy (Men’s Wear)
The Designer: Don Morphy
The Look: Think Don Draper meets modern day man — a man who isn’t afraid of a little color.
How to Wear It: Pair a sneaker with a dress pant for a casual business meeting.

3. Nine Muses (Women’s Wear)
The Designer: Jerry Matthews and Francesca Viamonte
The Look: This duo chooses nine muses (hence the name) to serve as their inspiration every season. Expect youthful hues, tuxedos dresses, and a good amount of mesh.
How to Wear It: Office wear for the creative-minded, or a fun cocktail event.

4. DeadSoxy (Men’s Wear)
The Designer: Jason Simmons
The Look: Male models in mostly unbuttoned shirts sported casual and dressy printed socks.
How to Wear It: Pair it with a leather loafer or throw on a sneaker for an athleisure twist.
5. Levenity (Women’s Wear)
The Designer: Venny Etienne
The Look: It’s as if Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian’s wardrobes combined to create this funky, 90’s inspired line. Also, Cardi B once rocked the hell out of a Levenity jacket — no big deal.
How to Wear It: Pair a mesh cropped jacket with a flair jean for a bold daytime look.

6. Billy Baker (Men’s Accessories)
The Designer: Josh Madans
The Look: Male models sported luxury earth toned beads with unbuttoned dress shirts and jeans.
How to Wear It: These aren’t your high school boyfriend’s weird puka shell beads. Thoughtfully pair with casual or business attire to add a little personality.
