Earlier this year, the Dallas Education Foundation (a nonprofit that helps raise funds for DISD) received a $5 million grant from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation to form a “data warehouse” that will allow the district to track school and student performance. Once fully implemented sometime in 2009, it will enable the district to track classroom and student data daily via online “dashboards.” As well, yearly report cards, like the one at right for Woodrow Wilson High School, will be accessible to the public. (As noted on the form, the data for some of the student and parent surveys are not yet available.) Below is a sample of some of the types of information tracked on the scorecards and the how those categories help reveal a student’s college or workforce readiness.
