Food purveyor Carlos Pippa was already selling the best Italian cheeses, cured meats, and century-old balsamic vinegar to chefs. Why not offer it to the public, too? So he opened World-Delicacies.com, a 25,000-square-foot facility in Farmers Branch, near the Galleria, where he sells all kinds of rare and imported foodstuffs. Some of his 1,600 items are impossible to find elsewhere: Granoro “00” flour from Italy, used in the very best pizza crusts, or DGF brand French chocolate, dark and bittersweet. Other wares, such as prosciutto San Daniele, he prices at a significant discount ($14 per pound vs. $22 per pound at Central Market). You’ll score a few bargains and maybe find culinary treats you’ve never seen before. If you want to prep before your visit, go to www.world-delicacies.com. 4505 McEwen Rd., Farmers Branch. 214-630-8713.
