MEDICINE Callinq Dr. Bart

|

If you’re a patient in one of the Baylor University Medical Center’s hospitals, part of your care might come courtesy of BART- Baylor Automatic Robotic Technician. Looking a bit like R2D2 on steroids, about one and a half times the size of a club refrigerator, Bart glides through the halls delivering medications from the hospital pharmacy, emitting a soft chime when he stops. He talks, summons elevators, opens doors, and often displays better manners than some of the real people with whom he shares the complex.

Such a gentleman ought to have a girlfriend, and he just might get one. The next Baylor robot (there are plans for 11 more) will have a female voice.
